Chris and I took Owen to the air show at Joint Base Lewis-McChord yesterday. Two words: freakin' awesome. I have to say... I really think this air show was better than any of the Seafair shows we've been to. They had jets, copters and tanks on display and even allowed people to wander inside. We live under one of the main flight paths for Lewis-McChord and see military aircraft fly over us on a regular basis, so it was great to see them up close. We wandered around the displays for a couple hours. Two of the original Tuskegee Airmen were there signing books and talking to people. We eventually found a nice place to sit and settled down for the air show. Which lasted over FOUR hours! And it never became dull. They began by acting out a battlefield scenario (complete with explosions and paratroopers) set to rock music and narration. Again: freakin' awesome. It was the kind of excitement that makes you want to say "where do I sign up?" The narration/music continued during the entire flying portion of the show which kept it interesting. Otherwise I don't think it would have held peoples' attention for the entire duration.

Owen was awesome. We were there for about 6 hours and he had a great time. He was waving at all the planes (like he does at home) and did well with the noise. He even managed to make a friend. Most importantly: no meltdowns and he was happy the whole time! Logan spent the day with my Dad and Ashley. The noise would have been too much for him.
Here are a few pictures from the day. I had so much fun with my camera and took 284 pictures. Great practice! (Check out the weather progression from cloudy to sunny.) I can't say it enough: awesome day spent with my husband and son. Life is good :)

Saturday, we hit the weekly classic car cruise-in at a nearby shopping complex. Chris wanted to drive his Nova but the knee prohibited him from getting it cleaned up. Depending on surgery/recovery, he might be able to take it next weekend. I'd offer to wash/wax the car for him but I doubt I'd do it the "right" way.
