Owen's Favorite Things

This post is all Owen (17 months). Here is a picture of Owen with his favorite things: the salad spinner and his sandals. He loves those sandals, even though they are a little too small. He'll find them and bring them to one of us so we can help him put them on.Owen doesn't walk anymore. He runs. And he's fast. He climbs up on the couches and chairs now. At first I was trying to discourage the climbing but Chris thought we should show him how. Score one for the dad, because I now think that was smart. Owen understands how to climb up and down without getting hurt.
His lauguage skills continue to develop. He's got several words that he says pretty regularly (mom-mom, daddy, doggie, kitty, dirty, yeah, hi, cheeks, kiss, and several more that are escaping me at the moment), and he's always trying to mimic words he hears us using.

Owen gives the biggest, sloppiest kisses. Sometimes when Owen and I are laying on the couch, he will smile real big, grab my face, and plant a huge one right on my lips. And then we giggle about it for several minutes. He sure likes to laugh. He's also a hugger.. If I'm sitting or laying on the floor, he will make a beeline for me and tackle me with a huge hug. If he falls down and hurts himself, he runs straight for me to get a hug.

Owen's fascinated by belly buttons right now. If you ask "where's my belly button?" he will lift your shirt and poke you in the belly. He laughs really hard if you poke his.
He's also a technology buff. Like all kids, he loves phones and remote controls. I bought him a Fisher Price cell phone months ago and it's one of his favorite toys. He "talks" on it all the time. Recently, he started letting the dogs "talk" too by putting the phone up to their ears. And this past week, he's learned that the remote is more than just cool buttons. He's learned that if you point it at the TV and push those cool buttons, stuff happens.
So that's the latest on the kid. I'm happy that I can stay home with him. He's a busy boy and tires me out, but I love being his mom and can't imagine life without him. He will be a good big brother when #2 comes along.

I think "anonymous" has lost their touch.
