Selah With Mom and Owen

My mom, Owen and I just spent a couple days with my grandparents in Selah. Chris was working so he stayed home (and caught up on sleep). My grandparents were hosting their annual bbq for their Senior Center friends so we went over to help out. We were setting up and my grandma asked my mom if there were enough plastic cups for the beer. Cups for the beer? I joked, "Are you guys having a keg or something?" My grandma replied with "Yep. Earl's bringing a keg. Home brew." Only my grandparents would have a keg with 55 of their Senior Center friends! No wonder Chris likes hanging out with my grandma, although he missed out this time.

My grandparents are retired apple orchardists but my grandpa can't let go of his old tractors and machinery. In fact he seems to keep accumulating more but that's okay. They keep him busy. Anyway, last time we visited them, Owen got to sit on the John Deere. He must have remembered how cool that was because he wanted my mom to put him up on a tractor again. He'd play with the steering wheel and check out the gearshifts for a couple minutes, and then he'd want down so he could move to the next tractor. When he ran out of tractors to sit on, he climbed up on the old riding lawnmowers. When he ran out of mowers, he moved on to the old forklift. He's such a boy.
And speaking of boy stuff, he's discovered that gravel is a really cool thing. He'd grab two handfuls and dump them back over his shoulders. Of course this resulted in a gravel-filled diaper!
As usual we had a nice time visiting with the grandparents and Tom and Toni. The bbq turned out well and I'm sure we will go back again to help out next year.

lol...it seems like whenever we are on the other side of the pass, you guys are over here at the same time! Glad you guys had fun. Oh, I had to laugh at the keg thing too!

Next time we head over in that direction, I'll let you know. We'll probably head over in November for birthday/anniversary celebrations. Maybe you guys can come hang out, or we can meet in Yakima for lunch or something.
