Westport

It's been in the 90s the past couple of days. I woke up Sunday morning and said "no thanks". Chris was working at the Pista sa Nayon festival at Seward Park all day and I wasn't interested in chasing Owen around a hot house. I decided to hit the ocean, and I chose Westport since I'd never been there before. I called my mom at 9am and said "I just decided to go to Westport and I'm leaving in an hour. Wanna go?" Surprisingly, she said yes. So we hit the road and were at the ocean two hours later. We parked at Westhaven State Park and walked to the beach, and I took Owen straight to the water. He loved the way the waves felt against his legs, and wanted to walk out further. The water was a little too strong and he ate it. He laughed and got right back up. He ate it again and got a mouthful of sand and saltwater. He didn't laugh that time. But he found a cute surfer girl who let him stand on her board and all was good again.

We grabbed the stroller and walked along the path (couple miles) to the Westport Lighthouse. Took a few pictures and wandered back to the car.
To finish off the day, we drove to the harbor to wander through a couple of shops. My mom wanted to buy Owen a t-shirt, and the saltwater taffy was calling our names. A fishing derby was in progress and people were walking along the street holding some huge fish. This nice gentleman let us take his picture with his big catch. Owe could have fit in that fish's mouth!

It was 70 degrees and a little breezy. In other words, perfect. It was a nice way to avoid the Puget Sound heat. If you haven't been to Westport, I highly recommend it. I'm already thinking a camping trip is in order for September.
