Furniture Forts and Log Rollin'

My mom and Cynthia went to see the Celtic Woman perform last week in Seattle. Owen and I ended up driving her to Kelley's where we all met up for appetizers. Our moms went to the performance (which they LOVED) while Owen and I hung out with Kelley. We built a fort out of furniture to contain Owen and all sat in it together. I'm guessing this is why Paul looked at us funny when he walked in the door. But hey..

A couple days ago, Chris and I met Dad and Laura at the cabin for a day of hard labor. Several wind storms over the winter resulted in a huge mess of fallen trees and debris. The cabin has been in the family since the 1950s (it was built in 1918!) and my dad said he's never seen such a disaster. So we got started on the cleanup.. Chris and Dad manned the chainsaw and Laura and I hauled branches. And we created this fine game of log-rolling. No point system, but if you took out a dog or another person you were disqualified. Owen spent the day with Ashley, and ended up staying the night and the entire next day with her and Dad. Chris and I took that opportunity to get a bunch of things done around the house.

Owen is turning into quite an animal lover. Our dogs and cat are so great with him (see Trooper's kiss below). He says "kitty" and attempts to say "doggie" but usually just manages to get the second syllable out ("gie"). He's a bird watcher and likes to spy on the goldfinches at the feeder. Fun little boy.
