One Tall Kid

Owen had his 4-month checkup today and as usual everything went well. His ear looks much better and he only has one day of medication left. His current stats: 16lb 11oz (80th percentile), 26.5 inches (90th percentile) and his head circumference is 17 inches (75th percentile). He needed 4 more shots and wasn't a happy camper. However as soon as the Tweety Bird band-aids were in place, he settled right down.

We started him on rice cereal 3 weeks ago and the doctor gave us the go-ahead to start fruits and vegetables. In honor of my apple-farming grandparents, we chose applesauce as Owen's first fruit. At first he seemed more interested in biting on the spoon than the applesauce itself, but when he realized the spoon had food he seemed to enjoy it. We loved the facial expressions. I'm sure we will not enjoy the colorful diapers soon to come. (***UPDATE*** Yep, about 8 hours after writing this post, we had a real stinky one.)

My grandparents held their annual bbq for all their friends on Saturday. Since Chris is still off work from his accident, he was able to go along with us. Grandpa is working on a song for Owen and showed me the lyrics. (Note to my cousins: there is a not-so-subliminal message about more great-grandchildren in there, so let's get to work.) I can't wait until he is finished and can sing it for us! Owen got to meet his great-great Aunt Lois and gave her some big smiles. I'm glad we got to see her. The bbq went well and Owen did fine with the 100 degree heat. I think there were 50 of grandma and grandpa's friends there. I'm glad they have so many friends.

We have been working on our sprinkler system the past few days. I'm doing the majority of the digging since Chris has to be careful with his neck and back. He just points and I dig. Good think I'm not a wimp or nothing would get done around here. I can't wait for grass, which is my motivation.
