Chris took a day off from work, so we made an impromptu trek to Mt. Rainier yesterday. We woke up thinking that we'd take care of a few chores around the house and maybe take Owen to the Bouncy Place to play. But while we were discussing plans, Chris said "let's go to Rainier today. " It took me all of one second to say "okay!" Spontaneous is aways fun! Within one hour, everyone was fed and dressed, diaper bag was packed, and a picnic lunch was put together. We turned up the bluegrass (best driving music ever) and headed out. We arrived
at the Nisqually entrance 45 minutes later and bought the annual pass. Because we know we'll go back, possibly as soon as Monday to go camping, weather permitting. We wandered around Longmire and stopped at Christine Falls and Narada Falls. We bypassed Paradise this time because it was pretty packed. Otherwise, the park was fairly empty. The boys were about to fall asleep anyway, so we found a picnic area at Box Canyon. We parked the car close enough to the table so the boys could stay in the car and sleep, and Chris and I enjoyed a quiet lunch together in the trees.

We drove through Packwood and Morton (and found some gorgeous property for sale outside of Eatonville that I'm about to look up!) and eventually found ourselves back at home.

Yet another great day with my husband and kids. Chris and I would like to head back up soon in the Nova.
