Point Defiance

We took advantage of our zoo membership again today. This time, we invited my mom to go along. We got there shortly after the zoo opened (which was very good, because it was packed by the time we left... to the point that I thought people were going to fight over our parking spot). The first thing we did was let Owen get his face painted, and he decided on an orange fish. I gave him a dollar, which the employee took from his hand. Owen did NOT like that she took his dollar and had a glare on his face while she worked. See below.
Each time we hit the zoo, Owen seems to have new favorite animals. Today, he couldn't get enough of the walruses and meerkats. He laughed so loud each time a walrus would swim near him, to the point that other people found it entertaining. And Owen made a meerkat friend. They stared at each other through a randomly-placed window and mimicked each other. So funny! I should have taken a video clip.

Owen also enjoyed the Budgie Buddies area. They give you sticks with millet seed and if you are patient, a parakeet might land on your stick. This little guy ended up finding me, so Owen helped me hold the stick to feed him (will have to get the pictures from my mom's camera).
After a few hours watching the animals, we headed toward Owen Beach for a picnic in the grass. We enjoyed a nice lunch before heading home. Another fun day with my family :)
