Mother Nature finally gave us a full day of sunshine! Saturday was gorgeous so we took full advantage of it. Owen went to spend the day with my dad and Ashley so that Chris and I could focus all our attention on projects. We got a good start on the plumbing for the pond, and I was able to get several small things crossed off my list. My dad wore Owen out (and vice versa). Despite all my efforts to keep Owen awake on the short drive home, he fell asleep as soon as I pulled into our garage and slept 15 hours straight. After dinner, we built a fire in the pit and lit our torches. Our neighbor was blasting a little Guns 'n Roses which really made it feel like Graham. Except his stereo system is really nice. To be "true Graham" requires a crappy ghetto blaster and an old cassette. We watched the sun set and made s'mores with strawberry marshmallows.
Of course, Mother Nature decided to give us rain on Sunday. Despite his 15 hours of sleep, Owen was a little on the cranky side (he's got 4 molars coming in!). Out of the blue, Chris said "it's raining, but let's hit the zoo". I didn't need any further convincing, so within 30 minutes we were out the door with our rain jackets. Most of the animals were curled up and hiding because of the weather, so Owen didn't seem to notice most of them. He did like the elephants, puffins, and the aquarium fish. We stayed for three hours before heading home. Fun times! We'll try to head back in a couple weeks for a members only evening at the zoo.
