Hurry Up, Kid

Today I'm 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant. The little guy (who I think will be nicknamed Freeloader) is still showing NO interest in being born. He hasn't dropped, and I'm dilated less than 1cm. So small that my doctor isn't even considering it dilated. I've been having contractions for a few weeks but they obviously aren't doing anything. No effacement. No nothing.

One theory: the baby is big and simply can't drop because my pelvis isn't wide enough.

The plan: I'm scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow to determine the baby's size. If he's big, we'll be scheduling a C-section. If he's not big, I will be induced on Thursday. Depending on what drug they use and how I respond to it, I may or may not be able to come home to wait for labor to start.

So after tomorrow's ultrasound we'll know what to expect.

URG. So they won't even let you try labor if the ultrasound says too big? That seems hasty for such a major surgery decision. I know the idea of being pregnant for longer is not appealing but I have known lots of people that didn't dilate until they were actually in labor. I will be praying for the best possible decision for this little man.

Thanks Sam (brave mother of large babies!). My pelvis might be a problem so she's reluctant to try natural labor if he's too big. We'll know more tomorrow.

Is your uterus measuring big? And are your feet small? One doctor once told me it's somehow related as to whether or not you can deliver vaginally or not. I didn't ask many questions at the time, just smiled and nodded.

Hang in there! That big baby will come when he's good and ready!

ps. I was induced with Chasen and hated it. Just putting that out there. :)

Babies have their own little time schedule. No rhyme nor reason to it. Those little bundles of joy RULE.
All will be fine.
Take care.

Im sorry. Don't worry about being induced if you are. I was with Alyssa and it was the best! I wish you luck and hope he comes out soon for you!!!

I was induced with Owen (twice actually... the first time was reversed since my tests were suddenly coming back normal) and decided that Pitocin is a wonderful thing. I had great luck and my labor was SO easy. And fast. So I'm kind of looking forward to being induced again :)

Shanelle, that feet theory is the strangest thing ever! Mine are pretty proportionate to my body, I think. Haha!
