I set Owen's bed up today. I think Chris was a little bummed out that he wasn't around to help out, but he's been working a ton and I really wanted to get it set up. As soon as everything was assembled, Owen jumped right up and took ownership of his new bed. Somewhere along the line, he found a pacifier in his room and insisted on sticking it in his mouth (see picture). Owen has NEVER been fond of the pacifier which has been a blessing, so I wasn't exactly thrilled to see one in his mouth at 21 months old. I kept thinking "Really, kid? We graduate to a big bed and now you're going to start with this pacifier business?" Luckily the novelty wore off after 30 minutes and he tossed it aside.

The crib is still set up and we'll just let Owen decide when he's ready to switch to the bed.
Last night Owen and I met several of my mom's friends for a celebration dinner. Owen ate tons of french fries, carefully dipping each one into ketchup. Afterward we all headed to the school board meeting where my mom was formally presented with her big school district award. Owen behaved well as usual and everyone loved seeing him.
