The past two days have been tiring. Yesterday afternoon (New Year's Eve), we went to my dad's to celebrate Christmas: Round 3. We ate too much food and exchanged gifts, and ended up staying longer than we'd planned. Chris scored a bunch of Home Depot gift cards which will get him started on his next project (building garage cabinets, which I'm so excited about). And I received new photo editing software, which I can't wait to start using! We went home, quickly changed clothes and headed for my mom's to drop Owen off. Then we were off to Brad and Julie's for one of their famous parties. They know how to spoil their friends. The food and (especially) the alcohol is top notch. In fact, lately they've been hiring a bartender to work at their parties because God forbid the guests have to mix their own drinks! Chris and I joke that we hide our expensive booze when our friends come over, whereas Brad and Julie are more than happy share their good stuff. In fact, once I mentioned that I really like Midori. Guess what they had at the next party, just for me? :) Of course, I couldn't indulge this time, which Julie seemed to take personally. She told me that I need to "stop being freakin' pregnant all the time". Okay, I'll try!
So after several hours of partying, we headed out. We picked sleepy Owen up and were home and in bed at 3am. Much later than what I'm used to.
Today (New Years Day) we packed up the car and headed to Dawn and Rich's house for Christmas: Round 4 with the Johnsons. Last year we simplified with the gift-giving. We still buy for the kids and do stocking stuffers for the adults. So we did the same this year. We enjoyed a great dinner followed by cake and ice cream to celebrate Terry's 60th birthday. Owen had fun playing with Chris' cousins. When Owen noticed that the girls each had a Nintendo DS, he grabbed his Leapfrog Text & Learn and jumped up on the couch with them to be part of the crowd. He looked so cute, as if he was saying "Cool DS... hey, check out my Leapfrog." Lazy me, I didn't get a picture. Hopefully next time.So Christmas is over and it feels nice, and today is the beginning of a new year. We will be welcoming a new baby, celebrating Owen's 2nd birthday, and celebrating our 5th anniversary this year. Being a police family, the past two months have been hard so my goal for 2010 is to hold my husband and child(ren) closer than ever and put all my heart and soul into caring for them and loving them.
Happy New Year!
