Christmas: Round One

Christmas Day has come and gone, and we are one exhausted family! It's been so long since Chris and I had a "real" Christmas together, so we had forgotten how tiring the day tends to be. Owen and I woke up around 9am. He ate while I did some last-minute cleaning and food prep. Cinnamon rolls went into the oven at 10:30 and my plan worked... the smell made its way upstairs and Chris was up by 11am.

Santa brought Owen his very first bicycle. His eyes lit up and he wanted to climb right on. He's a little too small for the bike, but he loves sitting on it and placing his feet on the pedals.
Owen also scored some cool toys and clothes. Well, I doubt he'd call the clothes "cool". He's already figured out that clothes are lame. Owen would open the box, pull out the tissue, pull out the clothing, and keep looking in the box. He'd get the funniest "oh, you mean that was it?" look on his face!Terry and Kathy showed up a little after 1pm. We exchanged gifts with them, and Owen scored some sweet sports equpiment. My favorite thing was the basketball hoop. Owen impressed up with his mad skills, and I was lucky enough to capture his first shot with the camera. My mom and sister showed up at 4pm, and we all sat down to dinner shortly thereafter. I hadn't planned on doing anything fancy for dinner, but a few nights ago Chris and I decided to go ahead with a turkey dinner. Might as well, since he hasn't had Christmas off in years.

After dinner, Terry and Kathy took off, and mom and Laura stuck around so we could exchange gifts with them. Owen received more clothes and toys, including Scout the Puppy from Laura. It was love at first sight.
So now our house is empty and quiet. Owen's asleep and Chris is playing with his new fancy cell phone. I just put the finishing touches on gifts for my extended family, who we will be seeing tomorrow for Christmas: Round Two. I think a hot bath is calling my name!
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.
