The Calm Before the Storm

Things have been pretty quiet around here during the past week, and it's been nice. Chris continues to work a lot of off-duty so we haven't seen each other much, but he comes home for a few hours here and there. It's fun to see Owen's face light up when he hears the garage door opening, because he knows that Dad's home.

I'm enjoying the quiet time while I can, because life is going to be very busy in the next few weeks. We're having Thanksgiving at our house this year (yes, I know how to cook a turkey.. I've done it many times), and I'm hosting a bridal shower for Dawn the following weekend (and she is going insane because I refuse to divulge any details except for the colors!!). I'm hoping to get our police family together for a Christmas party soon after that. Add in all the other usual holiday things and it's going to be busy.

The best part about the upcoming weeks.. Chris has Thanksgiving and Christmas off this year. First time in about 8 years. We're both looking forward to spending both holidays together. It's not fun for either of us when he has to leave early or arrive late for family functions.

Baby news.. #2 is a good kicker. I was just telling my relatives that #2 seems much lazier than Owen at this point, and the next day he decided to start proving me wrong. It feels like the kid is doing backflips in there. I think I'm about 24 weeks along now.. well that's what Dawn tells me. She seems to be better at keeping track than I am :) I'm still having insomnia problems and my doctor won't give me the okay to take anything for it, so I'm tired a lot. But other than that.. it's a pretty easy pregnancy so far. Easy pregnancies are nice.

awww, I love hearing news about my newest "Great Nephew!" I am sorry about the insomnia but maybe "he" just wants time with his Mommy!
