Happy Birthday, Chris

Tomorrow is Chris' 31st birthday. (Sorry to announce that, Chris.) In my typical fashion, I'd like to present...

31 Mostly Non-Mushy Things I Love About Chris!

1. He makes me laugh. Really hard.
2. In the 13 years we've been together, I've only had to take my car to a mechanic once.
3. He can build/install pretty much anything.
4. He's protective of me.
5. He's adventurous and outdoorsy. Which is a necessity for me.
6. He's always polite about my cooking, even when I screw it up.
7. When I beat him at HORSE in front of several friends, he took it like a man.
8. He's a good cop. He might hate his job at times but in the end, he does his job well.
9. He puts up with me when I drag him to the Puyallup Fair. He does get scones out of it.
10. He knows how to deal with me when I have a (rare) bad day.
11. He loves animals. Maybe too much, because he brought two homeless dogs home from work.
12. He can dance a mean YMCA.
13. He's a great husband and dad. The best I could ever ask for.
14. He took me to the Nutcracker and didn't complain.
15. He temporarily overcomes his fear of heights to put the Christmas lights up. I'd do it, but he doesn't want me up on the ladder.
16. Speaking of heights, when we were in Belize he jumped from a high rock into the river. I'd already jumped and he didn't want to look like a wimp. I was proud of him.
17. He does a great victory dance when he plays football on the Wii.
18. He has good taste when it comes to home decor (if his friends see this, they'll probably make fun of him).
19. He has nice hair.
20. He has a cool car.
21. He's good at burping babies. Seriously. When Owen was born, I just couldn't get the burping part down. I swear Chris could get that kid to burp by simply looking at him.
22. He's really smart. Sometimes too smart.
23. He still plays with Legos.
24. He always asks if I want one last bite of ice cream before he finishes off the carton. (I usually let him have it, because I'm sure he's hoping I say no.)
25. He's good at cleaning up puke. Dog, cat, Owen.. he can do it all.
26. He doesn't half-ass things.
27. He finishes my sentences, and I finish his.
28. He likes to travel and see new places.
29. He knows how to tell the difference between weeds and my plants (except for that one cosmo he pulled).
30. He's a good friend.

And my favorite thing about Chris (mush alert):

31. His support while I was in labor with Owen. They were short on nurses the night I was induced, so Chris' position was a little more "hands-on" than he expected. I was in and out of consciousness due to a complication and those hours were a blur. I seemed to block out everything the nurses were saying, but when Chris would repeat their instructions to me I could hear every word. He was the strength I needed and I can never thank him enough.

Happy Birthday, Chris! Friends and family, feel free to add to the list.

In no particular order....

1) Chris does have cool hair! It was the first thing I noticed about him when I first met him.
2) Chris loves my cakes and cookies.
3) Chris built me a fabulous deck that is never going anywhere even in a hurricane.
4) Chris is a great hands-on dad with Owen. I love watching him play with him and also change a diaper if need be.
5) Chris is a good provider for Mandy and Owen.
6) He also takes care of my car issues, too.
7) Chris is sensitive..(believe it or not :-)
8) I saw how much Chris cares about Mandy when she was in labor with Owen. He never left her side and was genuinely scared for her health when the difficulties set in.
9) Chris accepts that Mandy doesn't eat meat.
10) Chris can fix and/or build anything!
Happy Birthday, Chris!!

A couple of days late, sorry...
1) Chris can not only dish it out AND take it.
2) The first time I met him he told me I threw like a girl and I wanted to punch him - clearly he's grown on me ;-)
3) He cheered me on when I learned how to tie my hiking shoes.
4) He's a great hubby to my cousin and a great dad to Owen.
5) He always has entertaining stories to tell about work.

Happy (belated) birthday Chris!
