My mom, Owen and I drove to Selah yesterday to visit my grandparents. Kelley and Cynthia are spending the weekend and suggested we come spend some time with them. I would have loved to stay longer but we had weekend plans back home. It was so hot over there, but drier than home so it felt better. I took Owen's wading pool with us and he spent a lot of time splashing around in the cool water. Janice, Lois and Mick (Owen's great-great aunts and great-great uncle) showed up for lunch. That's what I love about my family.. when someone rolls into town, Grandma calls the extended family and we all get to visit. Grandma and Grandpa live across the street from the military training center and a large area of grass had caught fire. We watched the helicopters transport water from one area of the training center to the fire. Owen also spent some time on Grandpa's easy lift chair. He quickly learned that he could ride up and down just by pushing a button! When it was time to leave, Grandpa asked if he could put Owen in the seat of the John Deere and take pictures. That little boy fell in love with the gear shift and the huge steering wheel. Maybe Grandpa will let him drive it someday :)

On to a deck update.. Chris is finished with my mom's deck and it's beautiful. He's so good at building things. My mom has an old wooden table and chairs set and spray-painted them red. She's currently going through her outdoor items to see what she's going to keep and what she'll throw out, and then she'll begin arranging everything. I can't wait to see everything all set up.
Today we attended a surprise birthday party for one of Chris' best friends, Cameron. His wife Beth did a great job pulling it off, and Owen got to see all his buddies again. (All of our police friends and their kids were there.) Owen ate a lot of cake and ice cream.
