We took Owen to the South Hill Mall today to meet Santa. Luckily, there were only a couple kids in line so we didn't have to wait at all. The photographer and his assistants were wonderful... they really took their time and tried everything in their power to get Owen to smile. That's right... my son, the kid who literally knows how to stop and pose for a camera, became shy and would not smile! We were all dancing around like fools to get him to crack a smile and he just stared at us. Santa started talking to him and Owen looked up and made eye contact. The photographer snapped a picture and that's the one we picked. (They took about 20 shots for us to choose from.) Even though we didn't get Owen's famous grin, I couldn't be happier with the picture we walked away with. We've got quite a bit of snow out here. It started a few days ago and has actually stuck around. We had more today and it's been fun watching the neighborhood kids play. I'd like to build a snowman but I'm pretty picky about the amount of walking I will allow on our grass. I don't like people stepping on it when it's snowy or frosty. I wonder if I'll get over this by the time Owen's big enough to play in the snow.
