Our little boy is 7 weeks old now. When I was pregnant we made a tentative decision that he'd be in a crib in his own room by 8 weeks. However as we approach that milestone, I'm finding that I'm not ready for him to be in his room! I'm sure that Owen will be just fine in his own room, but it's me that is having doubts! I like having him in there, especially now that Chris is back at work and I'm home alone at night. We placed him in the crib today for a little bit and he stared at his mobile and the crib bumper. Later on, he fell asleep on my chest so I tried to transfer him to the crib to finish his nap, but he woke up right away. We'll continue to place him in there a few times a day so when the time comes to spend the night, he will be ready. Hopefully I will be ready too!
Chris and I worked all day Monday and made so much progress on the fence. All the boards are up (with the exception of the pieces we need to rip to complete each section) and we built both gates. So we're completely fenced in now and can let the dogs out without supervision. Whew! We will put the finishing touches on when Chris has another day off.
My nerd side is coming out here... I'm a bird watcher and have a few of my feeders out now. I've been attracting several gold finches and red house finches as well as a few sparrows. We have a group (well we refer to them as The Gang) of pigeons that visit every morning. Chris normally hates pigeons but I pointed out that they eat up all the seed from the ground and keep the patio clean. The swallows have been swooping around for a few weeks now but I haven't been able to get my new birdhouses up. So I probably missed the chance at having some swallows nest in our yard, but I'll get some next year.
Chris and I started our weight-loss contest on Sunday. I jokingly told him that in honor of the contest, I was going to make us a cookies and cream pie. He accused me of trying to sabotage him since it's no secret that he has no willpower. So I went ahead and actually made the pie, and he's eaten almost half! I'm SO going to win this thing... Just gotta keep making desserts for him (evil wink).

Good luck with your weight loss contest!! Believe me, the crib is the best thing you can do..you will get much more sleep and baby will too. It is an adjustment but you can do it.
