Mud Mountain Dam

I woke up today NEEDING to get out of the house and do something recreational. I think Chris' knee injury is worse on me than it is on him. (By the way, contrary to what I posted a couple of days ago, the MRI has not been scheduled yet. I forgot how inefficient L&I is.) Our camping trip fell through so I tried to set up a backpacking overnighter for Chris and me, but then he hurt the knee.

So basically, I've been desperate for activity. Backyard fun just isn't cutting it anymore. So we decided to hit Mud Mountain Dam. When I worked at the YMCA, we took our summer camp kids there. I remembered a wonderful play area and wading pool. Perfect for a family with an active toddler, lazy baby, injured husband, and adventure-seeking wife.

We started with a picnic lunch, and then Owen checked out the playground. Chris was able to hobble over and keep him company.

And then Owen discovered the wading pool. Chris and Logan settled down in a shady spot and I hung out with Owen at the pool. There weren't a lot of other kids there, but Owen managed to make a few friends. He absolutely loved the water and spent about an hour splashing around. I was able to sit on the edge and just watch him (while snapping a few pictures of course).

We came home the back way along Mud Mountain Dam Highway. It was a great day -just what I needed- and we will head back soon.
And Peg-Leg Johnson: You better heal up soon because I want to take that backpacking trip!
