I always update about the kids. This one is about the adults!
It's been one week since Chris' meniscus surgery. He was able to ditch the crutches a couple days ago and can now put a little weight on his leg. He started physical therapy this morning and I tagged along out of curiosity. His therapist was actually glad that I came and taught me how to help Chris through several stretching exercises. Chris has lost quite a bit of muscle mass in his quadricep, and he's looking forward to getting the okay to start working out again. That's still a few weeks away, at least. He has a post-op appointment next week and will find out if he'll get the go-ahead to start light duty.
Two weeks ago, I started riding my bike again. Chris gave me a Garmin GPS/heart rate monitor for Mother's Day and it's really coming in handy for my rides. In 14 days, I have logged almost 90 miles and my time improves each day. They say it takes two weeks to establish a good habit, which is why I set out to ride for 14 days straight. I will reward myself by taking a break tomorrow, and will resume on Friday. I feel great and have lost 4 pounds so far.
Our pond is coming along. Between bad weather, kids, obligations, and knee surgeries, we've fallen far behind our projected finish date. But it's getting there and we should be done by mid-August. Just in time, because we're hosting a couple of bbq's as well as a couple of reunions.
