Dawn's bridal shower has come and gone. Paula helped me host, and I have to say that she and I put on a pretty good shower! Although it's really the guests that make a shower great, and Dawn's friends and family are wonderful. At first, Paula and I were actually the wallflowers because we were the only people who didn't know anyone! (Thank goodness we had plenty to do, so it's not like we were standing in the corner or anything.) We were giggling about how weird it is to feel like a stranger in your own house. However, it took no time for us to get to know the guests, and we all had a fun time. Best of all, Dawn scored tons of wonderful gifts to cart off to her brand new house!
My friend Kelly baked and decorated the cake for the shower. We'd been coordinating for weeks and after several changes, this is what we came up with. A holiday theme (without being too "Christmas") that resembled a miniature wedding cake. I'm beyond impressed with Kelly's abilities and I look forward to her being my new "cake person". (And if anyone is intersted in hiring Kelly, let me know and I'll put you in touch.)
Chris and Owen didn't stick around for the shower. The estrogen level was a little too high, I think. They hit Toys R Us, and then Chris dropped Owen off at my mom's so he could continue on to work.
