Getting Back To Normal

Chris and I attended Officer Brenton's memorial service on Friday. It was hard to be there, but I'm glad we went. The sight of an arena full of police officers saluting the family as they were escorted in was amazing and emotional. Chris and I sat in the third row and could see his family, and that was difficult. I can't even imagine how his wife must be feeling. My worst nightmare came true for her, and she will forever be in my prayers.

My dear cousin Kelley was able to watch Owen for us. She lives a couple blocks away from Key Arena so we were able to park at her place and walk to the memorial. I felt awful because I kept changing plans on Kelley (beyond my control) but she was so flexible. She'd answer all my "I still don't know exactly what's going on, but here's what I know for now" emails with "it's all good, I'm available all day". She ended up watching Owen for several hours and it sounds like the two of them had a great time together. Kelley, I know I've thanked you a hundred times already, but THANK YOU for being so flexible for us. We owe you big time (especially because you had to change not one, but two poopy diapers).

I slept well on Friday night. That was much-needed.
Chris worked over the weekend so mom and I loaded Owen into the car and we spent a couple days in Selah with my grandparents. November is a big month in our family.. Aunt Cynthia's birthday, my mom's birthday, my grandpa's birthday, and my grandparents' anniversary. Several of us gathered for a great dinner on Saturday night, and we had a good time catching up and spending time together. My cousin Mike took wonderful care of Owen so I could kick back and relax. The rugrat would start to run off and Mike would say "don't get up, Mandy.. I got him". I didn't get a chance to let him know how much I appreciated that. Tom and Toni did a nice job raising a gentleman.. not many 25 year old males have the maturity to see that the pregnant mom is exhausted and needs some rest :)

It's Sunday night and we're back home. Chris is working, Owen is asleep, and I hope to get some good, peaceful rest tonight.
