Chores, Friends, Beach

Life never slows down. Chris was in training last week and will continue for two more weeks. It's this major advanced traffic collision training that he really likes (I think it's the third in a series of courses). He's a math nerd and the equations he has to do are enough to make you dizzy. He's having a lot of fun. However, he's working days which means loneliness for me! I am so much happier when Chris works nights. To keep busy, I've been working on staining the fence. Chris helps me when he gets home. It's a long process.. we're almost halfway done.

I needed out of the house on Wednesday! Owen and I met Dawn at The Rock in Auburn. After lunch, we headed a few blocks south to her beautiful new house. Owen played with Dawn's dog while she and I caught up. Hopefully Paula can join us next time.. it's just not the same without the other Tall Girl.

Chris, Owen, the dogs, and I took a quick trip to Ocean Shores to visit his relatives. We headed over Friday morning. We've already camped at the state park outside of town, so we decided to check out a couple of new places along the way. We stopped at Schafer near Satsop and Lake Sylvia in Montesano. Chris poo-pooed both parks. I'm not sure when he turned into such a prissy city girl, but he didn't like either of them. I thought they were fine. So we continued on to Ocean Shores and stayed at the state park again. After our tent was set up we headed to Chris' aunt and uncle's house. His cousin and her kids were visiting from Alaska. The kids LOVED Owen and kept him well entertained. After a couple hours we headed down to the jetty to let Owen and the dogs play. The dogs of course were in the water as soon as they were off leash. Owen wanted so badly to go in too, but settled for playing in the sand. After the beach, we went back to the campground for dinner and math problems (Chris brought homework.. what a fun camping activity). Once it was dark we settled in for the night. It rained pretty hard overnight and we had to deal with Owen's new apparent tent phobia (who knows where that came from.. he's camped several times.. need to work on this). But overall the trip was great. We headed back to the water in the morning (a different part of the beach that we'd never been to before.. we will definitely hit that part again). Owen was great. Dogs were great. Weather on Friday was gorgeous, which made up for the rain later that night! We're tough and can deal with a little moisture.
